Some services require a deposit to confirm a booking, with the balance due later (collected by Brakett’s booking-completion + balance-collection flow).
How deposits work
- The Business sets, per service, whether a deposit is required and its amount.
- At booking, the customer pays the deposit to confirm; the remaining balance is requested after the service is completed, via a secure payment link (email + WhatsApp).
- The balance link is secure, single-purpose, and expires (default 14 days); reminders are sent until paid, waived, or refunded.
Customer transparency
Before paying, the customer should see the deposit amount and that a balance will be due. (Businesses are responsible for setting accurate prices.)
Refunds of deposits
Whether a deposit is refundable on cancellation/no-show is set by the Business’s refund + cancellation policies. Brakett records and processes refunds the Business authorises.
Records
All deposit/balance payments and state changes are recorded (payment_audit) for
transparency and dispute resolution.
Changes
Versioned; the applicable version is the one in effect at booking time.
